Cowboy Carnival Insights and Events - Pie Contest, Book Sale, Quilt and Photo Displays

As you know, our 12th Annual Cowboy Carnival is this coming Sunday, May 24th.  All this week we are highlighting different events that make up the day.

The main gate at the Community Center  will open at 10:30, with a $10 entry for adults, $5 for children or $25 for an immediate family. The gate fee includes a delicious BBQ lunch and is good for the whole day.

This is also when you can drop off pies for the Pie Contest (see the rules here). Drive right into the kitchen to drop them off until noon. Judging begins promptly at 12:30.  There is no entry fee, and prizes are awarded in every category. Following the bar-b-q, pies will be served with ice cream at 2 p.m. from the kitchen area. Contact Kris Robertson with any questions at 307-469-2204.

Also opening at 10:30 Sunday morning will be the book sale with an all new selection, as well as the quilt show and photo displays. Dozens of handmade quilts from all over the Big Horn Basin will be on display in the main building, and these works of art are treasures to see. Anyone interested in entering a quilt must drop it off at a designated location one week before the Carnival, where they will be returned afterward. Contact Marylou Doyle for more quilt information at 307-469-2253, or click here to find out more about the quilt show.

The Photo Contest has three categories for entry: Amateur, Digitally Enhanced (Amateurs), and Professional.  More information and entry forms for the Photo Contest can be found on the Photo Contest page of the website.
