Three Divisions:
·
Amateur (Three
categories- small, medium and large pictures)
Amateur
definition is
anyone who has not profited from his/her photography in any
way other than photo contests. Photos are not digitally
enhanced.
·
Professional (including digitally enhanced photos)
(1 category-all sizes)
Professional
definition is anyone who profits
from his/her photography in any way other than photo contests.
Photos can be digitally enhanced.
·
Digitally Enhanced
(Change this year): Only
amateurs will qualify for this division.)
Digitally
Changed/Manipulated Division
means there was PHOTOSHOPPING or other digital
manipulation for the specific photograph. This does not apply to
photographic techniques contained within a camera's abilities (i.e.
a manual shutter release used at night to capture fireworks or
moving traffic). Nor does it apply to CROPPING an image. Because of
varying darkroom techniques, this usually happens in some form
anyway and is therefore allowed here.
In the amateur division (only) there
will be three categories of People’s Choice Winners:
Category 1: 5 x7 inches and smaller
Category 2: Larger than 5X7 up to and including 8x10
Category 3: Larger than 8x10
There will be a
small fee for entering this year. Here is how that works: Each
entry is $1.00 apiece. The first through 10 entries are a dollar
apiece. After 10 entries, up to 20 entries (by the same person), it
is free. Twenty-one through 30 will be $1.00 apiece, 31-40 free and
so on. In other words, 10 pictures will cost $10 and 20 pictures
will cost $10. Here is an example:
1st-10th photo(s)
entered $1.00 apiece
11th-20th photos entered free
21st-30th photos entered $1.00 more apiece
31st-40th photos entered free
etc. to infinity and beyond
The money from each
division and category of entries will be used to pay the People's
Choice Winner for that division/category. We will retain 10% of the
money to help fund next year's show. If money is an issue for you,
call Denise.
ALSO, PLEASE label the back of your photo with your name,
contact information, and division.
Click here for printable id tags. Please do not put your name on
the front unless you don't care if it is not voted on for People's
Choice Awards. We will take entries clear up to the morning of
Cowboy Carnival as long as you are willing to help with the
displaying of your entries if we run out of time. We can take photos
at any time if you wish us to do so, but we have heard that people
do come on Saturday and like to see pictures. You are certainly
welcome to price your photograph--Although, if your name is on the
front at all, even in a watermark, it will be disqualified from
prizes, but you probably won't care about that anyway if your name
helps sell the photo. We are asking that if you do sell a print,
that HCC receives 10% of the profit (negotiable).
FYI: If you
are not going to be there for all of the carnival, please ensure
your name and phone number are on the picture, so we can call you in
case you win. If we cannot reach you, we will pass on to the second
place winner (and so forth.) Also, please make arrangements to pick
up photos right after the carnival or the next morning.
If possible, please
have a way for us to hang the picture.
Warning
Please know that we will do our best to keep your photographs
safe and secure. However, be forewarned that the Hyattville
Community building is old with the problems that come with old
buildings. Many of you know this from last year’s interesting
events. The roof has been replaced for this year. Please do not
enter any photographs that you cannot live without in case they
happen to get damaged or stolen. We ask that all photos with glass
be hung by the photographer or someone that the photographer trusts.
