Yesterday Governor Gordon announced a state-wide closure of Public Spaces for two weeks (until April 3) How does that affect us in Hyattville?

We're looking forward to seeing everyone at Hyattville Wyoming’s 16th Annual Cowboy Carnival, Sunday, May 26th, 2019! If you haven't experienced this before, make your plans to join us in friendly Hyattville for our 16th Annual Cowboy Carnival on Sunday, May 26, during Memorial Day Weekend – fun for the whole family, entertainment, and a home-cooked BBQ Lunch! Funds raised from this event support our operating and maintenance expenses for the following calendar year. We begin with horse race registration at 10 a.m., and races begin between 10:30 and 11. Riders from all over the basin compete in 220 and 440 races with jackpots. Registration is $50, and contestants register on race day. Admission is free to the horse racing event, and you can back your vehicle right up to the track for tailgating and a good view. People bid on their favorite contestants at the Calcutta. After the horse races at the south end of town, head over to the Community Center: 308 S. Main Street. Gate Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children or $25 for an immediate family. The gate fee includes a delicious BBQ lunch, entertainment, the rewards of our famous Pie Contest - and it's good for the entire day! Events beginning between 10:30 and Noon include the Book Sale, Quilt Show, and Photo Show. Dozens of handmade quilts from all over the Big Horn Basin will be on display in the main building, and these works of art are treasures to see. Anyone interested in entering a quilt can drop it off at a designated location one week before the Carnival, where they will be returned afterward. Lunch is served at 12:30 and includes beef, lamb, pork, and a selection of side dishes that always includes corn on the cob. This is also the perfect time to enjoy live music by this year's entertainer, Lacy Nelson from Ten Sleep Wyoming! We thank ANB Bank for always sponsoring our musical events. After lunch and maybe a dance, take time to view and bid on the items for the Silent Auction, pick up a few new plants, or participate in a Bingo game! This is also when we start serving up all those wonderful entries from the Pie Contest for dessert in the cafeteria. The Chauncey McMillan Memorial Sheep Dog Competition is slated for 1 p.m. on the main grounds and always draws a big crowd. Competitors bring their dogs from across Wyoming and Montana, and it features two classes: one for ranch dogs who have never entered a sanctioned dog trial before, and another for dogs who have previously competed. Entry fees are $35 per dog, and only dogs entered in the competition will be allowed on the grounds with a leash. The Sharpshooter contest begins at 1:30, so you’ll have time to enjoy the races in the morning and the BBQ Lunch! It will be at the South end of the airstrip. Bring your own gun(s); some events have entry fees. This event has really exploded in popularity and undergone a fun update! Kids’ events span the day and include a special Book Walk, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, and activity area. The afternoon will end with the live auction by Gary Nash. The items at the auction surprise and delight each year – it’s not unusual to find artwork, jewelry, books, photography, ranch and specialty items and more. Start your Christmas shopping early! For more information about our 16th Annual Cowboy Carnival, please visit our Facebook Page, Hyattville Community Center. We post regular updates on Cowboy Carnival events and auction items there. Visit our website, www.Hyattville.org, for more details on each of the events and any related entry forms. Anyone wishing to donate an item for either the Silent or Live auction is encouraged to email us at [email protected], or call Bob Herman at (307) 469-2247. Thank You in Advance – and we hope to see you here, Memorial Day Weekend! |
