If you haven't experienced this before, make your plans to join us in friendly Hyattville for our 20th Annual Cowboy Carnival on Sunday, May 26th, during Memorial Day Weekend – fun for the whole family, entertainment, and a home-cooked BBQ Lunch! Funds raised from this event support our operating and maintenance expenses for the following calendar year. Our Main Gate opens at 8:30 and admission is $15 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, or $35 for one immediate family.

This year we're opening in-person 5K and Kids K Registration at 9 am. Registration is required and can also be done online for an additional fee . We held the first one of these in 2019 and the response was so nice, we've made it a regular event! Awards will be granted for the first place men's and women's finishers. The 5k Run/Walk starts at 10, and the Kids K race starts at 11. Read more about the 5K Run-Walk

Kicking off at 10 at the Community Center Building is the Book Store, Quilt Show, and Photo Contest and the start of the 5K Run/Walk. Featured this year in the History Display this year features the four big cattle trails that left Texas with emphasis on the ones that touched Wyoming and the cattle that became the brood stock of Wyoming's cattle industry. The local cattle and sheep trails from the valley ranches to the summer and winter ranges as well as the drives to the BNSF railroad for shipment to market will also be featured. In addition to the cattle trails display, Mona Sindelar is organizing a display of the writings of Hyattville resident and writer, Helen S. Turner. Dozens of handmade quilts from all over the Big Horn Basin will be on display in the main building at the Quilt Show.. These works of art are treasures to see! Anyone interested in entering a quilt can drop it off at a designated location one week before the carnival, where they will be returned afterward.
Read more about the Quilt Show, Photo Contest, and 5K Run/Walk Back by popular interest again this year, the Sharpshooter Contest begins at 10:00 at the old air strip on the south side of town on the gravel road that heads to Ten Sleep. It will be marked and obvious. Bring your own gun(s); some events have entry fees. This event has really exploded in popularity and become a popular event for participants and spectators.! Read more about the Shooting Contest Various Kids Activities will be set up on top, down by the original swing area, and the original existing swing set and merry-go-round. There will be a sand box and toys, picture silhouettes, face painting, and bingo. At 1:00 , is the very popular BB Gun Shoot. |

Back again by popular demand to the Cowboy Carnival this Year: Todd Jones's Hands-on Horse Packing Demonstration. Todd Jones of Hyattville is a well-known Hunting and Fishing Outfitter and Guide and instructor at Casper College. He will present a live, hands-on packing demonstration. A great opportunity for a refresher course or learn additional information on some basic knots, finding the right gear, and selecting your pack animal. Todd encourages audience participation and makes time for questions.

Following the pack horse demonstration, Cherokee Jackson of Worland, will present a horse demonstration, "Basic Colt Training." Cherokee will show you the equipment, tack, and demonstrate and discuss the basic steps and activities she suggests in training a colt. Cherokee is the Horse Project Leader for the Washakie County 4-HClub. She encourages your questions.
Plant sale begins for flowers and vegetable plants and some potted plants. At 11 the Kids K begins at the HCC grounds and moves through town. Registration for this is either online or at 9 am. If you don't think you can make it to Hyattville by 9, but wish to register any Kids K participants, the best way to do that is online to book your spot. Read more about the Kids K Run-Walk |

Returning this year to our Cowboy Carnival is the musical entertainment of Hyattville natives Liam and Layne Jordan Music. These thirteen year-old, identical twin musicians have built quite the impressive resume. After performing at the 2022 NoWoodStock Music Festival in Ten Sleep, they have performed at a host of other venues across the state. Liam and Layne play a mix of folk, country, alternative and classic rock, along with several original songs as well and made their first recording in December.

Lunch is served at 12:30 and includes beef, lamb, pork, and a selection of side dishes that always includes corn on the cob. This is also the perfect time to enjoy live music by this year's entertainment! After lunch take time to view the items for the Live Auction and enjoy a serving of those wonderful, homemade pies from the kitchens around Hyattville for a dessert of pie and topped off with ice cream in the cafeteria. Bring in your pies and your ticket will be entered for the three drawings during the Live Auction!!! Read more about the Live Auction.

The Chauncey McMillan Memorial Dog Trials Jackpot Competition is slated to begin next to the main grounds and always draws a large crowd. This year Lisa Keele and Alison Gerrad of Kaycee will introduce the "Jackpot" style of running the sheep dog trials that they use east of the mountain. The course will remain the same as in previous years. They will also bring their dogs to demonstrate some of the basics they use in training dogs if time permits. Competitors bring dogs from across Wyoming and Montana. The two classes of dogs, competitive and ranch dogs,+ will be run together in one show with the dogs scores recorded according to their entry division. Entry fees are $35 per dog, and only dogs entered in the competition will be allowed on the grounds with a leash. Read more about the Working Dog Trials.
